Car broken into..

Not sure why, but someone broke into my car last week. They didn't take anything, mainly because I don't leave stuff in my car. When I was cleaning up I found a CD I didn't even know I had, so they didn't look too hard either.

The weird thing was that whoever broke into the car left a ton of glass on my hood and roof which seems a bit odd. It cost me $180 to fix the broken window, but I did clean my car as a result, so something came out of it.

Might be good to run this tool...

Microsoft has released a tool on Windows Update that will check your machine for the most recently discovered malicious software.

Make sure you have automatic updates turned on such that you don't need to proactively go and get this stuff, but if you want to be sure you've got it you can download the ActiveX control on the following page: http://www.microsoft.com/malwareremove

Remember, always be careful when downloading ActiveX controls and make sure that the publisher that created the control is one you trust. For instance... On this control you should see that the publisher is Microsoft Corporation. This information will be displayed on the ActiveX download prompt...

Back from Big White... Alive.

The snow on the west coast isn't very good so far this year, Big White was our best bet, and so we went. We stayed in Kelowna and took HWY 33 daily to the resort.

Highway 33 sucks. I hit some black ice at 50km/hr, fishtailed, spun 180 degrees, slid backwards to the wrong side of the road, smashed into a snowbank and watched as the snow I displaced fell over a ledge into the darkness below. Luckily there were no vehicles coming the other way (for another 10 seconds or so). The rest of the ride back from Big White to Kelowna sucked too. We saw 4 cars in ditches off the side of the road, and were only able to maintain a 5km/hr speed for a good portion of the trip. The roads were so bad that I slid sideways going at 5km/hr once... The radio anouncer mentioned that the roads were skating rinks, but not the fun kind of skating rink.

Anyhow, we made it back to Kelowna without any big damage to the car, or ourselves which is the more important thing. It's time to go get some food.
