Mt. Rainier Climb

I'll be climbing Mt. Rainier Aug. 17th. I've been assured that this will be a painful slog, and I'm not really looking forward to the climb itself, but I am looking forward to completing the climb :)

At 14,441 feet about 10,000 people attempt this climb each year with a success rate of about 50%, according to Rainier Park Rangers. Seems like reasonable odds.

As part of this climb I'm raising money for the Washington's National Parks Fund which helps to keep areas like Mt. Rainier in shape for hiking, biking, and enjoying wildlife. Flooding at Mt. Rainier back in November caused millions of dollars worth of damage to roadways and trails, so there's plenty of need for support.

My target is to raise $5,000 total, but my company will match all donations, so I really only need to get to $2,500 as a result. If you're interested in sponsoring me click here, choose a donation amount, select "yes" for Microsoft Climb 2007, and put my name (Aaron Sauve) in the special instructions box.

Any bit helps! The end date for donations is Aug. 3rd.

Lots of stuff

The last couple of weeks have been pretty fun. I have a bunch of topics to write about, so stay tuned for a couple of posts I have in the queue:
- Mom and Dad visit Seattle
- Cheryl moves to Seattle, Aaron starts new job
- Wine tasting party #2
- Training for Mt. Rainier

This weekend was the company picnic. Every year we try to put together a volleyball team to play in the tournament. This year our team didn't do as well as we were hoping for. Although we held our own in the top division of the tournament, we missed the finals. Ah well, there's always next year.

In other news, I finally finished guitar hero on "expert"...
